Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science, Indore established in 1952 as a tiny Institute has grown into a leading Institution in the state of Madhya Pradesh and Western Region of the country in a span of 50 years. Considering the quality of the manpower produced by the Institute, a high power committee of the government of India has ranked it 16th in the country including IITs. Considering its Credentials the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and University grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi has granted the status of Autonomous Institution in 1989.Under this status the Institute Conducts its own examinations and frames its own syllabi with a flexibility to update them as and when required to keep pace with the latest technological developments. Efforts are being made for acquiring the status of “DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY” for the Institute.

At present he institute offers 9-Undergraduate courses and 17 Post Graduate courses with an intake of 500 and 250 students respectively. In addition Part Time Degree Courses are being offered for working professionals with Engg. Diploma. The Institute is a developed center for carrying out research leading to Ph.D. degree. The Ministry of HRD of Govt. of India has identified the Civil Engg. Department of the Institute as a Center for Quality Improvement (QIP) for Ph.D. degree and Electrical Engg. Department for M.E. degree. A large no. of its Alumni have acquired top positions in National & International organizations & serving the society for its continuous betterment.

The Institute has well-qualified and experienced faculty, the 50% of whom are having a doctoral degree. Quite a few of them have earned prestigious awards also. The faculty and the students of the institute publish more than 100 research papers every year. The laboratories of the various departments have been modernized with an aid of approx. 3.0 crores of rupees from Govt. of India and World Bank. The Institute is involved in Continuing Education Programme and also provides Testing and Consultancy services. The Institute has successfully completed a large number of sponsored Research Projects. The Institute also supports IGNOU, New Delhi for its technical courses.
